June 6, 2016

(Sandy) Entered the MTC...what a feeling.  I can't believe that we are actually here.  First day has been a lot of orientation, week's schedule, etc.  One scripture that stood out for me was Luke 18: 29-30 "There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting."

What a great a blessing that is to know that we all will receive manifold blessings.  Amazing.

Just returned from recorded devotional of Elder David A. Bednar teaching about the character of Christ.  Christ always turned His thoughts outward to others and not like the natural man whose thoughts are turned inward.  He used Cookie Monster as an example of a natural man, always saying me, me, me; I want it now.  Our mission isn't about me.  It's about the Lord and how can I serve Him.  How can I serve the people?  What does the Lord want me to do?  Don't take notes.  Write down what  you feel from the Holy Ghost.

Lynn and I are trying to decide what to do before bed.  We have 2 1/2 hours.  What to do????  We both needed a little sleep so had a quick nap.

(Lynn) It is hard to believe that on Sunday, June 5, we flew out of St. George to Salt Lake to begin our mission. Greg, Mindee, and Katie were all there with their families to send us on our way. Ann's extra enthusiasm really gave us a boost.  Those good-byes at the airport are really hard for me, so that was very helpful to me.  I'm so grateful for the love and support of all of our kids and grandkids.  Chris and the kids picked us up at the airport in SLC and took us to their home in Highland. They each help up signs they made with our name on them so we knew who was waiting for us. That was fun
June 6, 2016   Chris and Amy and the kids took us to the MTC,  That seemed strange.  We're use to dropping off our kids at the MTC, not them dropping us off. It happened so quickly.  Several missionaries were waiting to take our luggage to our room.  We said good-bye, and suddenly we were on our own.
The MTC has been a marvelous experience.  Even though our kids told us of their experiences in the MTC, you can't comprehend the spirit and magnitude of all of it unless you're here.  Seeing all of these young missionaries is wonderful.  We've really enjoyed being in a district of 4 missionary couples.
